AVEC pvs- Veterinary Association for the Cooperation with Developing Countries is a non-profit association with the aim to give real value to the experiences of those who have taken an active interest in emergency and developing matters in underprivileged countries. Its activity takes place both in Italy and abroad and it also aims to raise public awareness by selecting specific fields of interest with particular emphasis on "less known" areas. Further, it aims at building a service-net capable of providing technical and specialised advice with regard to the rural environment. The cultural and scientific richness among its members' experiences in both the private and public sectors, explains the variety of services provided. |

AVEC also co-operates with other external international experts to provide professional and independent advice for the steady improvement of the quality of intervention. |

Philosopy and strategy In a rural socio-economic environment preservation and development of livelihood are the only means to protect human life and any intervention needs to keep the right balance among all components and to respect different cultures and beliefs. AVEC prefers short-term commitments providing technical advice and assistance through assessment and advisory missions according to the specific needs of the project. Selected teams usually consisting of two members supervise each step of the project although all members are involved in problem solving and analysis. For funding its projects Avec, at the moment, looks for possibilities among decentralised cooperation at Municipal and Regional levels and private sector contribution. |
