With CCM in Gode Zone and Libaan Zone: food security, the livestock sector, basic health services and flood emergency response.

A series of interventions by the Comitato Collaborazione Medica (CCM) in the Somali Region of Ethiopia, in which AVEC-PVS took part as technical partner:

  • 2001–2004 — Food Security Project in Gode Zone
  • 2003 — Support to the Livestock Sector activities in Gode Zone (micro-project funded by the City of Turin)
  • 2005 — Support to the traditional social system of Somali nomadic pastoralists (European Union)
  • 2005–2006 — One Health: operational research on basic health services for pastoralists in Libaan Zone (Austrian Development Cooperation and Italian Development Cooperation in Ethiopia)
  • 2006–2007 — Emergency response for families hit by the floods in Kelafo and Mustahil (OCHA, United Nations)

At its heart: community animal health workers, quality medicines distributed sustainably, and an approach that values pastoralists’ traditional knowledge.
